Sando Defends Government, Accuses Sieh of Misleading Public Over Drug Case‎

Monrovia, Liberia – Deputy Minister for Public Affairs at the Ministry of Information (MOI, Daniel Otis Sando, has defended the government’s handling of the US$19.2 million cocaine seizure investigation while accusing FrontPageAfrica Publisher Roney Sieh of misleading the public and advancing a personal agenda.

‎Speaking on the Prime Morning Drive program, Minister Sando questioned Sieh’s motives in his commentary on the drug case, describing the publisher as a “mercenary” and alleging that his statements are not in the interest of national accountability.

‎Sando took particular exception to claims linking Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung to the cocaine controversy, arguing that such assertions lack merit and are intended to create unnecessary public suspicion.

According to the Deputy Minister, Sieh’s criticisms are connected to the government’s prosecution of former Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweah Jr., suggesting that the publisher’s position is influenced by political interests.

‎“Sieh is doing all this because the government is prosecuting former Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweah Jr.,” Sando stated.

‎He further alleged that the FrontPageAfrica publisher is being used by individuals connected to the cocaine case to influence public perception and interfere with the ongoing legal process.

‎Sando maintained that the government remains committed to ensuring that the investigation is conducted through the appropriate legal channels and urged the public to rely on verified information regarding the matter.

‎The comments come amid growing public debate over Liberia’s high-profile drug seizure case and the government’s efforts to prosecute those allegedly connected to the shipment.

‎Roney Sieh has not publicly responded to the allegations made by Deputy Minister Sando.
