LACC CHAIR LAUDS CENTAL REPORT, URGES UNITED FRONT AGAINST CORRUPTION

Monrovia, Liberia — Executive Chairperson of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), Cllr. Alexandra K. Zoe, has called for stronger national collaboration in combating corruption as she officially launched the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) State of Corruption Report.

Addressing guests at the launch, Cllr. Zoe praised CENTAL for its consistent role in promoting transparency and accountability through research and civic engagement. She said the report provides valuable insights into the country’s anti-corruption landscape and offers practical recommendations for improving governance and public sector accountability.

According to the LACC Chairperson, the report recognizes the progress Liberia has made in strengthening anti-corruption institutions, improving legal and policy frameworks, and expanding public awareness on integrity issues. At the same time, she noted that it highlights the challenges that continue to undermine the country’s fight against corruption.

Cllr. Zoe emphasized that the report reinforces the need for sustained efforts by government institutions, civil society, development partners, and citizens to build a more transparent and accountable society.

She reiterated the Commission’s commitment to executing its mandate through independent investigations, prosecution of corruption-related offenses, preventive measures, public education, and strict enforcement of the country’s asset declaration laws.

The LACC Chairperson also highlighted the importance of continued cooperation with institutions such as CENTAL, the Ministry of Justice, the General Auditing Commission (GAC), the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA), development partners, and civil society organizations in strengthening Liberia’s anti-corruption framework.

She encouraged policymakers, public officials, and ordinary Liberians to carefully study the report and use its findings to advance reforms that promote transparency, improve governance, and restore public confidence in state institutions.

Cllr. Zoe stressed that defeating corruption requires collective action, strong political commitment, and active citizen participation, adding that public resources must always be managed in the interest of the Liberian people.

The CENTAL State of Corruption Report is expected to serve as an important reference for national discussions on governance reforms and accountability while supporting ongoing efforts to strengthen integrity across the public sector.
