Lofa Bridge, Grand Cape Mount County – A 49-year-old resident of Lofa Bridge, Alexander Saah, is appealing for urgent assistance after suddenly losing the use of both legs, a condition that has left him bedridden and unable to provide for his family.
Speaking to this publication, Mr. Saah said the condition developed approximately three weeks ago while he was preparing to begin diamond mining activities in Crab Hole, Gbarpolu County.
According to him, he began experiencing severe pain in both legs just days before work was scheduled to commence. As the pain intensified and his mobility rapidly deteriorated, he asked his brother to return him to Lofa Bridge because he had no relatives or caregivers in Crab Hole to look after him.
“I could no longer walk, and the pain became unbearable. I had no choice but to return home,” he explained.
Mr. Saah said his worsening condition has prevented him from seeking medical attention because he lacks the financial means to travel to a health facility or pay for medical examinations and treatment. As a result, the exact cause of his paralysis remains unknown.
He disclosed that he is the father of two children and is currently being cared for by his elderly mother, who is struggling to support the family despite their limited resources.
Unable to work and earn an income, Mr. Saah said he now depends entirely on the goodwill of relatives and neighbors for survival.
He is appealing to the Government of Liberia, humanitarian organizations, charitable institutions, politicians, and compassionate citizens to come to his aid by providing medical assistance and other forms of humanitarian support.
Mr. Saah expressed hope that with timely medical intervention, he may recover and once again be able to care for his family and resume a productive life.
Anyone willing to assist is encouraged to reach out to Mr. Saah or his family through local community leaders in Lofa Bridge, Grand Cape Mount County.
