MONROVIA – Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr. has been appointed First Vice Chair of the Continental Immunization Advisory Council (CIAC), placing the Liberian legislator in a key leadership position within a continental body responsible for providing strategic guidance on immunization and public health priorities across Africa.
The Continental Immunization Advisory Council, established by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), serves as an independent advisory body supporting the implementation of the Continental Immunization Strategy (2026–2030). The council works to strengthen vaccination systems, improve health security, expand access to life-saving vaccines, and support sustainable health policies across the continent.
As First Vice Chair, Senator Snowe will help shape strategic policies aimed at increasing immunization coverage, reaching underserved communities, promoting sustainable vaccine financing, and advancing Africa’s collective response to public health challenges.
A Record of Regional Leadership
Senator Snowe’s appointment adds to a distinguished record of public service at both the national and regional levels. As a member of the ECOWAS Parliament, he has consistently advocated for stronger regional integration, democratic governance, peace and security, and economic cooperation among West African states.
