LEC Kicks Off FY2027 Budget Process to Align Spending with Strategic Priorities

MONROVIA, LIBERIA — The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) has launched its Fiscal Year 2027 corporate budget preparation process, beginning an internal planning exercise aimed at aligning financial resources with operational demands, institutional priorities and service-delivery objectives.

The launch, held at the corporation’s Waterside Office in Monrovia, brought together heads of departments, divisions and units to discuss the framework, requirements and timelines for developing the FY2027 budget.

Alfred P. K. Cassell, Senior Manager of the Budget Office, and Fomba Konneh of the Division of Strategy and Planning led presentations outlining the objectives, scope and methodology of the budgeting exercise.

Their presentations also covered key deadlines, major milestones and documentation requirements, providing departmental heads with guidance on preparing and submitting their respective budget proposals.

The officials stressed the importance of submitting realistic, timely and well-justified proposals to support an organized budgeting process. Participants were also given the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification on the procedures and expectations ahead of departmental submissions.

Speaking at the launch, Adam Sherif, LEC’s Chief Financial Officer and Budget Owner, emphasized the need for effective planning, coordination and fiscal discipline in developing a budget that reflects the corporation’s operational requirements and strategic goals.

Sherif, speaking on behalf of the Managing Director, officially launched the FY2027 Corporate Budget Preparation Process, setting the stage for departmental submissions and subsequent reviews.

The exercise will guide LEC’s financial planning for the 2027 fiscal year, helping determine how available resources can be allocated to support institutional operations and improve service delivery.

The budget preparation process also provides an opportunity for the corporation to assess its anticipated financial needs and establish spending priorities in line with its broader objectives.
