Harper, Maryland County – The Regional Police Command for Region Five has announced the launch of an investigation into the alleged misconduct of two officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) following the circulation of a video on social media purportedly showing behavior deemed inconsistent with the standards of the institution.
The officers, identified as Mark Wahkeleh and Rebecca Nimely, are assigned to the Maryland Detachment of the Liberia National Police. According to the Regional Command, the incident is reported to have occurred on August 15, 2026, at the Pleebo Police Station.
In an official statement issued on Monday, the Command described the conduct captured in the video as unacceptable and inconsistent with the professionalism, discipline, and ethical standards expected of members of the Liberia National Police.
The Command disclosed that both officers have been referred to the Professional Standards Division for a comprehensive investigation to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.
It emphasized that the outcome of the investigation will determine the appropriate administrative and disciplinary measures to be taken in accordance with the laws, regulations, and established policies governing the Liberia National Police.
Regional Police Commander Cool Moses Sepoh II reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining discipline, accountability, professionalism, and respect for the rule of law throughout Region Five.
He further assured the public that the matter is being handled through the Liberia National Police’s established internal disciplinary mechanisms and that due process will be observed at every stage of the investigation.
