MONROVIA – Pro-Life Liberia, in collaboration with Global Peace Network Inc., has condemned the recent attack against Senator Amara Konneh and called on President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to dismiss the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police over what it described as “reckless and misleading” public statements concerning the country’s fight against illegal drugs.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the organizations alleged that the Police Inspector General undermined public confidence by publicly claiming that senior government officials were linked to a recent drug seizure while also accusing the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) of receiving bribes from drug cartels.
The organizations said such allegations are serious and should be supported by credible evidence through a transparent and independent investigative process rather than public pronouncements.
According to the statement, Senator Konneh responded to the Inspector General’s remarks by calling for an independent investigation into the allegations. Pro-Life Liberia and Global Peace Network Inc. said they support that call, arguing that an impartial investigation is essential to ensure justice, fairness, and accountability.
The statement further contended that the Inspector General should not be part of any investigation into the matter because his public comments have, in the organizations’ view, raised concerns about his impartiality and credibility.
The organizations urged President Boakai to take action aimed at restoring public confidence in Liberia’s law enforcement institutions while ensuring that all allegations are investigated independently and in accordance with the rule of law.
