MONROVIA, Liberia — The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has intensified efforts to educate taxpayers on their obligations through a regional Tax Awareness Campaign covering Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Maryland, and Grand Kru Counties.
The campaign, being implemented through the Authority’s Taxpayer Services Division (TPSD), commenced in Zwedru and is focused on providing taxpayers with practical information on registration, filing of tax returns, payment procedures, Real Property Tax, and the use of the LRA’s digital platforms.
The outreach also provides members of the public with an opportunity to interact directly with LRA officials, seek clarification on tax-related matters, and gain a better understanding of Liberia’s tax system.
Acting Supervisor of the TPSD, Marvin D. Yeahgar, who is leading the campaign, stressed the importance of taxation to Liberia’s development. He noted that domestic revenue remains a major source of funding for national priorities, including infrastructure and essential public services, pointing to improved road connectivity as one visible benefit.
The technical sessions are being supported by Victor K. Seah, Senior Officer of the Real Estate Tax Division; Michael K. Teah, Acting Supervisor for Registration and Returns Processing; and Dividatta N. Kerkula of the Taxpayer Services Division.
The officials are providing detailed guidance on tax compliance, taxpayer registration, return filing, payment processes, and accessing the LRA’s digital services.
Participants have welcomed the initiative, saying the engagement has enhanced their understanding of their responsibilities as taxpayers and the broader tax system. They also called on the LRA to continue conducting similar awareness programs across the country.
The campaign forms part of the LRA’s broader efforts to strengthen taxpayer education, encourage voluntary compliance, and increase domestic revenue mobilization in support of Liberia’s national development agenda.
