MONROVIA, LIBERIA — Dr. Hawa Alice Kun, DNP, FNP-BC, has urged women to make their health a priority by seeking regular medical care, even when they are not experiencing obvious symptoms.
Speaking during Day Four of her Primary Care Minute health-awareness series, Dr. Kun highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare for women at every stage of life.
She noted that many women spend much of their time caring for children, families, workplaces, and communities, often placing their own health needs behind those responsibilities.
According to Dr. Kun, routine medical checkups can help detect health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, anemia, breast and cervical concerns, reproductive health problems, and other illnesses before they become more serious.
She also encouraged women to pay attention to changes in their bodies, including unusual bleeding, breast changes, persistent pelvic pain, unexplained weight loss, severe fatigue, and other symptoms that may signal an underlying health problem.
Dr. Kun emphasized that women should not wait until they are pregnant, in severe pain, or seriously ill before seeking medical attention.
“Your health matters even when you feel well. Do not wait for a crisis before making yourself a priority,” she advised.
She further stressed that investing in women’s health has broader benefits for families and communities, noting that healthy women contribute to healthy families and stronger communities.
Dr. Kun, who is affiliated with Wholesome Care LLC, encouraged the public to share health-awareness information, saying that even topics that may appear routine can play an important role in educating communities and promoting preventive care.
The Primary Care Minute series focuses on providing practical health information and encouraging people to take greater responsibility for their overall well-being.
