Monrovia, Liberia – The Monrovia City Court has issued a writ of arrest for Foday Devine Massaquoi, Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Council of Patriots (COP), over allegations of criminal coercion, terroristic threats, and menacing.
Court documents, signed by Stipendiary Magistrate L. Ben Barco, direct all law enforcement officers to locate, arrest, and produce Massaquoi before the court to answer to the charges.
According to the court records, the complaint was filed by the Republic of Liberia through the National Port Authority (NPA), represented by its Managing Director, Sekou Dukuly, along with other authorized officials.
The complaint alleges that Massaquoi used social media platforms to publish statements accusing the Freeport of Monrovia and senior government officials of involvement in the reported US$19 million cocaine trafficking case. Prosecutors further contend that he later repeated those allegations during a press conference, where his remarks allegedly damaged the reputation of the complainants by linking them to criminal activities.
The court filing maintains that the statements exposed the complainants to public hatred, ridicule, and intimidation, constituting violations of Liberia’s Penal Law relating to criminal coercion, terroristic threats, and menacing.
In a separate order, the court stated that Massaquoi is believed to have absconded and instructed police and other law enforcement agencies to arrest him wherever he is found and bring him before the Monrovia City Court for further legal proceedings.
The charges against Massaquoi are allegations contained in the court filings. He remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of competent jurisdiction.
