MONROVIA, Liberia — The Chief Executive Officer of Pro-Life Liberia, Samuel Kelvin Tarplah, has raised concerns over the growing influence of politics in Liberia, arguing that the country’s progress is being undermined by political interests.
Tarplah says Liberia is being held hostage by politics, a situation he believes continues to distract national leaders from addressing the pressing challenges confronting ordinary citizens.
According to him, political competition and partisan interests have become deeply embedded in the country’s national affairs, making it difficult for Liberia to achieve meaningful and sustainable development.
He stressed that national development should not be driven solely by political considerations, but by policies and decisions that improve the lives of Liberians regardless of political affiliation.
Tarplah called on government officials, political leaders, civil society organizations and citizens to place the national interest above partisan differences and work collectively to address Liberia’s longstanding challenges.
He emphasized the need for greater accountability, responsible leadership and a stronger commitment to national development, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, employment, infrastructure and economic empowerment.
The Pro-Life Liberia CEO further urged Liberians to demand leadership that prioritizes service to the people rather than political interests.
He maintained that Liberia can only make meaningful progress when political differences are put aside and national development becomes the common priority.
Tarplah’s comments come amid ongoing public discussions over governance, economic hardship, political divisions and the need for stronger institutions to deliver tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.
