MONROVIA, Liberia — River Gee County Superintendent Mike T. Swengbe has commended the Ministry of Health, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, international development partners, County Health Officers, and health professionals for successfully concluding the National Health Review Conference on Universal Health Insurance and Maternal and Newborn Care.
The three-day conference brought together key health stakeholders from across Liberia’s 15 counties to review progress, identify challenges, and strengthen strategies aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare, particularly for women and newborns.
Superintendent Swengbe described the conference as a significant and encouraging experience, saying the discussions demonstrated growing progress in Liberia’s health sector under the leadership of President Boakai.He said the presentations and technical discussions provided important insights into the government’s strategic approach to improving healthcare delivery and advancing Universal Health Insurance across the country.
According to Swengbe, the gathering of county superintendents, County Health Officers, lawmakers, development partners, and health professionals around a common objective reflects a renewed commitment to ensuring quality and affordable healthcare for every Liberian.
He expressed optimism that the implementation of the conference’s outcomes would help extend essential health services to vulnerable populations, including mothers and children in hard-to-reach communities across River Gee County.
The River Gee Superintendent also praised the county’s County Health Officer, Dr. Pauline Weah, for what he described as an impressive representation of the county during the conference’s presentations and panel discussions.“Dr. Weah represented River Gee with professionalism and commitment. Her leadership continues to contribute to improvements in our health facilities and community-based health services,” Superintendent Swengbe said.
He further reaffirmed the River Gee County Administration’s commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Health, development partners, healthcare professionals, and local communities to implement the resolutions and recommendations emerging from the conference.
He identified healthcare financing, adequate staffing, and improved access to maternal and newborn services as key areas requiring sustained attention to ensure meaningful improvements in health outcomes across the county.
The County Administration has meanwhile extended appreciation to the Ministry of Health, conference organizers, partners, and participants for their contributions toward making the National Health Review Conference a success.
