Rep. Rugie Yatu Barry Breaks Ground for Basketball Court At Frank E. Tolbert High School

BENSONVILLE, Liberia – Demonstrating her continued commitment to education, youth empowerment, and community development, Montserrado County Electoral District #1 Representative Hon. Rugie Yatu Barry has launched the construction of a basketball court at Frank E. Tolbert High School in Bensonville City.

The project follows an appeal by members of the school’s 2026 graduating class, who identified the absence of a basketball court as a major challenge to sports and extracurricular activities on campus. Responding to their request, Rep. Barry pledged her support and has since provided the construction materials needed to begin the project.

The initiative marks another investment by the District #1 lawmaker in strengthening educational institutions and creating opportunities for young people beyond the classroom.

Speaking through her office, Rep. Barry emphasized that sports play a vital role in shaping disciplined, confident, and responsible young leaders. She noted that the new basketball court will provide students with a safe space for recreation, athletic development, leadership training, teamwork, and healthy competition.

The Representative’s Office praised the graduating class, the school administration, and community stakeholders for working together to make the project a reality, describing the collaboration as a model for community-driven development.

Once completed, the basketball court is expected to enhance student life at Frank E. Tolbert High School by promoting physical fitness, talent development, and broader participation in school sporting activities.

The Office of Hon. Rugie Yatu Barry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that improve educational infrastructure and expand opportunities for young people across Electoral District #1, Montserrado County.
