MONROVIA, LIBERIA — The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has intensified preparations for Liberia’s upcoming supplementary review on tax transparency and the exchange of information for tax purposes through a one-day stakeholder engagement with key government institutions.
The meeting, held Thursday, brought together representatives of the Liberia Business Registry (LBR), Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA), and the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA).
The engagement forms part of Liberia’s preparations for the supplementary review being conducted under the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, an international body hosted by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Discussions during the meeting focused on addressing outstanding compliance matters and strengthening Liberia’s systems for the availability and transparency of beneficial ownership information.
Participants also reviewed legislative, regulatory, and administrative measures needed to ensure Liberia meets internationally recognized standards on tax transparency and the effective exchange of information for tax purposes.
The LRA said the stakeholder engagement reflects the importance of coordinated action among government institutions as Liberia works to strengthen its tax transparency framework and address areas identified for further improvement.
The process is expected to contribute to stronger institutional collaboration, improved access to relevant ownership and financial information, and enhanced compliance with international tax transparency obligations.
Liberia’s participation in the Global Forum review process is part of broader efforts to improve the country’s tax administration systems and demonstrate its commitment to international standards on transparency and information exchange.
