Monrovia, Liberia – The President of the National Customs Brokers Association, James L. Hinneh, has extended warm congratulations to all Liberians as the nation celebrates its 179th Independence Anniversary, calling on citizens to remain united and committed to building a stronger and more prosperous Liberia.
In his Independence Day message, Mr. Hinneh described Liberia’s journey since gaining independence in 1847 as one defined by freedom, resilience, and determination, noting that the country remains Africa’s first independent republic and a symbol of courage and hope.
He stressed that while the nation reflects on its proud history, Liberians must also embrace their collective responsibility to shape a better future through honesty, education, hard work, and selfless service to their communities.
“The true strength of Liberia is not found only in our history, but in the character of our people. Every act of honesty, every investment in education, every service to our communities, and every young person who chooses integrity over shortcuts helps build the Liberia we all desire,” Mr. Hinneh said.
The Customs Brokers Association President further emphasized that independence is more than an annual celebration, describing it as a reminder that nation-building requires the active participation of every Liberian.
He urged citizens to choose unity over division, peace over conflict, and progress over complacency, expressing confidence that Liberia can create greater opportunities for all and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
“As we mark this historic day, let us choose unity over division, peace over conflict, and progress over complacency. Together, we can build a Liberia where opportunity is available to all and where future generations will be proud of the legacy we leave behind,” he stated.
Mr. Hinneh concluded by wishing all Liberians a peaceful and memorable Independence Day celebration, reaffirming the national spirit of “One People. One Nation. One Shared Future.”
