Dr. Herbert Brewer Named National Orator for Liberia’s 179th Independence Anniversary

Monrovia, Liberia — The Government of Liberia has announced Dr. Herbert Brewer as the National Orator for the country’s 179th Independence Anniversary celebrations, as preparations intensify for one of the nation’s most significant annual events.

This year’s observance will be held under the theme, “Strengthening National Identity Through Liberian-Led Historical Leadership,” a message intended to encourage citizens to embrace the country’s rich heritage while reinforcing the values, institutions, and leadership traditions that have shaped Liberia since its founding.

According to the Government, the theme reflects a renewed commitment to promoting patriotism, national unity, and responsible leadership as Liberia continues its journey toward sustainable peace and development.

The Government has called on Liberians both at home and across the diaspora to participate in commemorating the nation’s 179th Independence Anniversary, describing the occasion as an opportunity to celebrate Liberia’s enduring sovereignty and reaffirm a shared commitment to national progress.

The Independence Day program will highlight Liberia’s historical journey as Africa’s oldest independent republic while emphasizing the importance of homegrown leadership in building a stronger, more united, and prosperous nation.

As National Orator, Dr. Brewer is expected to deliver the keynote address, reflecting on Liberia’s historical achievements, honoring the resilience of its people, and challenging citizens to embrace their collective responsibility in advancing peace, good governance, national unity, and sustainable development.

Liberia will celebrate its 179th Independence Anniversary on July 26, 2026, marking nearly two centuries of independence since declaring sovereignty in 1847.
