MONROVIA, LIBERIA — The Liberia Intellectual Property Office (LIPO), in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is set to convene a two-day validation workshop on Liberia’s Draft National Intellectual Property Policy and Strategy (NIPPS).
The workshop, scheduled for October 15–16, 2026, will bring together key stakeholders to review and validate the draft policy and strategy, with the broader purpose of strengthening Liberia’s intellectual property system and ensuring that it contributes effectively to national development.
The workshop will provide stakeholders with an opportunity to examine the draft NIPPS, provide technical input, identify gaps, and make recommendations before the policy and strategy are finalized. It is also intended to promote a stronger framework for protecting intellectual property rights while encouraging innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship, investment, and the commercialization of local knowledge and products.
A strengthened intellectual property system can help create an environment in which inventors, artists, researchers, entrepreneurs, and businesses are better positioned to protect and benefit from their original works and innovations.
The collaboration between LIPO and WIPO forms part of efforts to improve Liberia’s intellectual property administration and develop a national framework that responds to the country’s development priorities.
The two-day workshop will be held at the LIPO Conference Room, Old Labor Ministry Compound, UN Drive, Monrovia.
