MONROVIA, Liberia – The Civil Service Agency (CSA) has begun a four-day verification exercise of personnel records and the academic and professional credentials of employees at the Liberia Institute for Public Administration (LIPA).
The exercise, which began Tuesday at LIPA’s headquarters along the Roberts International Airport Highway in Lower Margibi County, is part of the government’s broader effort to improve personnel administration, accountability and integrity across the public service.
Acting CSA Director-General Edwin K. Jallah officially launched the exercise, stressing that reliable personnel information is essential to effective management and decision-making within government institutions.
Jallah said the exercise goes beyond a routine administrative review, describing it as an institutional measure intended to ensure that LIPA maintains complete, accurate and up-to-date records that meet established public service standards.
The review will cover employment and appointment documentation, personnel files, academic and professional qualifications, employment status, as well as attendance and time records.
According to the Acting Director-General, the process is being carried out in collaboration with LIPA to establish the accuracy of existing records, determine areas requiring correction and address gaps in personnel administration.
LIPA Deputy Director-General for Administration Michael Wah welcomed the CSA team and said the exercise would contribute to strengthening professionalism and accountability within the institution.
Wah emphasized the importance of the review given LIPA’s responsibility for training and developing Liberia’s public-sector workforce.
Meanwhile, Alexander Bassey, Director of the CSA’s Credentials and Integrity Management Division, outlined the procedures employees will follow during the verification process.
Bassey explained that employees will first complete consent forms authorizing third-party verification of their academic and professional qualifications. Their personnel records will then be examined against a standardized verification checklist.
He added that employees will have an opportunity to submit documents that may be missing from their files, describing the provision as part of the exercise’s flexible approach to ensuring that records are properly documented.
The CSA said the initiative forms part of its wider effort to improve the accuracy, credibility and integrity of personnel records throughout Liberia’s public service.
The agency said reliable personnel information will provide a stronger foundation for workforce management, institutional planning and future administrative decisions across government.
