MONROVIA, Liberia — River Gee County Superintendent Hon. Mike T. Swengbe has engaged Senator Francis Dopoh and members of the River Gee County Sports Steering Committee as the county steps up preparations for the National County Sports Meet.
The meeting, held Tuesday at Senator Dopoh’s office in Monrovia, brought together the superintendent, the committee’s leadership and technical staff to discuss the development of sports in River Gee and preparations for the county’s participation in the national competition.
The engagement also served to formally introduce the Dopoh-led committee to Superintendent Swengbe and establish closer coordination between the county administration and the sports leadership.
Superintendent Swengbe welcomed Senator Dopoh and the committee, commending their efforts to strengthen sports and create opportunities for young people in the county.
He emphasized the importance of sports in promoting unity, developing talent and engaging young people, while assuring the committee of his administration’s readiness to provide support for the county’s sporting activities.
“For us to succeed, we must work as one team. I want to assure Chairman Dopoh and the committee that my office is fully open and ready to support the county team. We must put River Gee first and give our youth the opportunity to showcase their talents,” Swengbe said.
Dopoh Outlines County Meet Preparations
Senator Francis Dopoh, Chairman of the River Gee County Sports Steering Committee, thanked Superintendent Swengbe for the engagement and described the meeting as an important step toward strengthening coordination ahead of the County Meet.
Dopoh briefed the superintendent on the committee’s reconstitution, the recruitment of technical staff and preparations underway to identify and develop athletes who will represent River Gee.
He pledged to promote unity, inclusiveness and merit in the selection of players and technical personnel.
Members of the technical team also provided updates on talent scouting, training arrangements and logistical requirements ahead of the competition.
The meeting concluded with a commitment by the county administration and the Sports Steering Committee to maintain regular consultations and improve coordination as preparations continue.
The collaboration is expected to provide a more coordinated framework for River Gee’s sports development and its preparations for the upcoming National County Sports Meet.
