Monrovia, Liberia – Roland Beweh Weah, Chief of Office Staff in the Office of River Gee County Senator Jonathan Boycharles Sogbie, has weighed in on the ongoing public debate surrounding former official Nora Finda Bundoo, calling for accountability while criticizing what he described as widespread political hypocrisy.
In a statement shared on social media, Weah said he had closely followed discussions over the past 48 hours and expressed disappointment that many individuals who once praised and benefited from Bundoo are now celebrating her current predicament.
“One thing has saddened me the most: many of the same people who once benefited from her, praised her publicly, and even used her name to attack or insult others are now celebrating her downfall,” he wrote.
Weah clarified that his comments should not be interpreted as support for Bundoo, emphasizing that all public officials entrusted with state resources must be held accountable for their actions.
“I firmly believe that anyone entrusted with public office or public resources must be held accountable for their stewardship. Accountability is not optional,” he stated.
He added that the situation serves as a lesson for political leaders, warning that loyalty built on personal interests can quickly disappear when circumstances change.
According to Weah, those associated with Senator Jonathan Boycharles Sogbie should also take note of the unfolding events, saying similar realities could emerge in any political camp.
Addressing Bundoo directly, Weah encouraged her to cooperate with ongoing scrutiny and provide the Liberian people with clear explanations regarding the source of her wealth accumulated during her six years in public service.
“Be strong, answer the questions before you openly, and explain to the Liberian people how you accumulated your wealth within six years in public service,” he said.
He concluded by stressing that while political loyalty may be temporary, integrity, transparency, and accountability remain the enduring principles of public service.
