FISH TOWN, RIVER GEE COUNTY — River Gee County Superintendent Mike T. Swengbe has called for renewed peace, reconciliation, and unity among citizens as Liberia observes National Thanksgiving Day, emphasizing the importance of resolving communal differences through dialogue and mutual understanding.
In a Thanksgiving message released Thursday, November 5, Superintendent Swengbe extended greetings to the people of River Gee County, including traditional leaders, elders, women, youth, civil servants, and residents of the county living at home and abroad.
The county official described the national observance as an opportunity for citizens to reflect on God’s blessings, appreciate the prevailing peace, and renew their commitment to peaceful coexistence and collective development.
While acknowledging the challenges facing the county, Swengbe highlighted the peaceful relationships among communities, the contributions of traditional authorities, the resilience of farmers and market women, and the commitment of civil servants and security personnel as reasons for gratitude.
“On this special day, I call on every household to remember that River Gee County is blessed. Let us forgive one another, share what little we have with our neighbors, and continue to pray for President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and for the development of our beloved county,” he stated.
Superintendent Swengbe also urged citizens to use the occasion to strengthen social bonds, demonstrate compassion toward one another, and promote peaceful settlements of disputes affecting communities across the county.
He placed particular emphasis on the need to address land-related disagreements and other communal misunderstandings through constructive engagement, stressing the importance of cooperation in maintaining lasting peace.
The Superintendent further encouraged residents to celebrate responsibly, support vulnerable members of their communities, and ensure that the Thanksgiving observance remains peaceful throughout River Gee County.
He also extended best wishes to travelers and families celebrating the national holiday.
“May God bless River Gee County, and may God bless the Republic of Liberia,” the Superintendent concluded.
