MONROVIA, Liberia — The Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL) has recognized the Chinese Embassy in Liberia for sponsoring 23 Liberian journalists to participate in a two-week professional media training program in Beijing.
The seminar, running from October 14 to 27, 2026, is intended to strengthen participants’ communication abilities and deepen their professional knowledge of journalism and media practice.
In acknowledging the initiative, RAL President J.H. Webster Clayeh and the association’s leadership highlighted China’s continued investment in training opportunities for Liberian media practitioners since 2023. According to the association, approximately 100 journalists and other media professionals have benefited from media-related programs in China during that period.
However, RAL emphasized the need to expand access to such opportunities, particularly for journalists based in Liberia’s counties and those working with community radio stations. The association said broader participation would help strengthen journalism across the country.
The association also encouraged the selected journalists to make effective use of the training by applying the skills and knowledge acquired in their daily work and sharing their experiences with colleagues upon returning home.
RAL extended its appreciation to Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu and the Chinese Embassy for their ongoing support of Liberia’s media community, describing professional development opportunities as important to building the capacity of local journalists.
