Monrovia, Liberia – Chief Executive Officer of Alvina Security Services Inc., Chief Alvin McKay, has called for increased investment in the professional training and capacity building of private security personnel across Liberia, describing it as a critical step toward strengthening the country’s security architecture.
Addressing a News conference in Monrovia, Chief Mckay said private security officers have become an essential part of Liberia’s security system by safeguarding businesses, institutions, residential communities, and other strategic facilities. He stressed that the effectiveness of the sector depends on continuous training and adherence to professional standards.
“We must continue to invest in our security personnel through regular training, discipline, and professionalism. A well-trained security officer is better equipped to prevent crime, respond to emergencies, and work effectively with state security institutions,” Chief Mckay said.
He urged private security companies to prioritize capacity building by providing officers with training in crime prevention, emergency response, conflict management, customer relations, and ethical conduct.
Chief Mackay also called on the Government of Liberia and relevant security institutions to strengthen collaboration with licensed private security companies, noting that public-private partnerships are essential to maintaining peace and public safety.
According to him, the private security sector has the potential to create employment opportunities for thousands of young Liberians while complementing the efforts of the Liberia National Police and other national security agencies.
He further encouraged security firms to embrace modern technology, improve working conditions for security officers, and uphold high professional standards that will enhance public confidence in the industry.
