Thomas Taylor III Intensifies Grassroots Campaign, Pledges Action-Driven Leadership for District #10‎

MONROVIA, Liberia – Montserrado County District #10 representative aspirant Thomas Taylor III has intensified his grassroots engagement through a community sanitation initiative, using a market cleanup exercise to highlight his commitment to public service and signal his readiness to contest the district’s legislative seat should a vacancy arise.
‎
‎The initiative, which brought together residents and supporters from different communities, focused on cleaning market surroundings, clearing drainage channels and removing waste from other public spaces.
‎
‎Taylor said the exercise was intended to promote collective responsibility and demonstrate that community development should begin with practical initiatives rather than political promises.
‎
‎He disclosed that residents from various communities had joined the effort, while others were encouraged to contribute manpower and support toward improving sanitation conditions across the district.
‎
‎Political Ambition Amid District’s Representation Uncertainty
‎
‎Addressing questions about his political ambitions, Taylor acknowledged that there is currently no vacancy in District #10 but maintained that he remains prepared to contest the representative seat whenever an opportunity emerges.
‎
‎He explained that his political group had initially planned around the 2029 general elections but had adjusted its strategy in response to developments surrounding the district’s representation.
‎
‎“We had a plan. We had a full agenda. We anticipated 2029, but 2029 is no more. We cannot stop the work of the district,” Taylor stated.
‎
‎His comments come against the backdrop of the ongoing legal and political developments surrounding District #10’s representation, including proceedings before the Supreme Court.
‎
‎Taylor argued that uncertainty over the district’s representation should not prevent residents and community leaders from pursuing initiatives that address their immediate needs.
‎
‎He maintained that his involvement in community activities was not dependent on holding public office, insisting that leadership must be demonstrated through service and tangible contributions.
‎
‎Promises Results-Oriented Leadership
‎
‎Outlining his leadership philosophy, Taylor said public office should be judged by its impact on people’s lives rather than speeches, political appearances or campaign commitments.
‎
‎“Leadership is my service. We are here to serve the people. You cannot say you are a leader and the lives of the people are not transformed,” he emphasized.
‎
‎He acknowledged that sanitation initiatives represent only a small part of the broader development challenges facing District #10, adding that meaningful progress would require sustained efforts across several sectors.
‎
‎Taylor further expressed confidence that, if elected, his leadership would produce visible improvements in the district within two years.
‎
‎He stressed that residents should be able to identify measurable changes during a lawmaker’s tenure, arguing that five or ten years in public office without noticeable improvements would raise legitimate questions about leadership performance.
‎
‎Rates Current Lawmaker Seven Out of Ten, Calls for Cooperation
‎
‎In assessing the performance of the current lawmaker, Taylor awarded a rating of seven out of ten, acknowledging the legislator’s public advocacy and efforts to speak on behalf of constituents.
‎
‎However, he suggested that his approach to leadership would place greater emphasis on implementation and practical results.
‎
‎Taylor also expressed readiness to work with the current lawmaker, identified during the interview as Yekeh, maintaining that political differences should not undermine the district’s development.
‎
‎“Building this district is not one person. It’s teamwork. Yeke, me, whoever comes, we stand together and build this district,” he said.
‎
‎He described cooperation among elected officials, community leaders and residents as essential to addressing the district’s development needs.
‎
‎Expresses Confidence in Electoral Prospects
‎
‎Despite the unresolved political situation, Taylor expressed strong confidence in his chances of securing the district’s representative seat if an election were held.
‎
‎He said his relationship with residents and ongoing community engagements had strengthened his confidence in their support.
‎
‎Taylor also urged residents to remain united, describing District #10 as one family whose collective interest should take precedence over political divisions.
‎
‎His latest community initiative, alongside previous involvement in supporting the district’s participation in a sports competition, forms part of his growing grassroots activities as he positions himself for a possible electoral contest.
‎
‎Although the timing of any potential vacancy remains uncertain, Taylor’s public declaration and communit
