Koon Heads to Guinea, Ghana for Regional Engagements

MONROVIA, Liberia — Speaker of Liberia’s House of Representatives Richard Nagbe Koon has left Monrovia for Guinea, where he will attend the opening of the country’s 2026–2027 legislative session before travelling to Ghana for talks on Liberia’s preparations to host a major gathering of African legislative leaders.

Koon is visiting Conakry at the invitation of the President of Guinea’s National Assembly. The session is scheduled to open on Monday, October 5, with related activities continuing through October 7.

During his visit, Koon is expected to meet senior Guinean lawmakers and other officials for discussions on legislative oversight, democratic governance and cooperation between the two countries’ institutions.

The visit will also provide an opportunity for both sides to exchange experiences and strengthen ties between their legislatures.

Koon will then travel to Ghana, where he is expected to meet the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament.

The talks will include Liberia’s preparations to host the 4th General Assembly of the Conference of Speakers and Heads of African Parliaments (CoSPAL) from December 9–11, 2026.

Liberia is preparing to welcome Speakers and legislative leaders from across Africa for discussions on issues of continental importance and ways to strengthen cooperation among African legislatures.

The regional tour comes as Liberia seeks to expand its engagement with neighbouring countries and other African institutions while laying the groundwork for the upcoming CoSPAL meeting.

Koon is expected to return to Liberia after completing his official engagements in Guinea and Ghana.
