HARPER, Maryland County — Speaker of the House of Representatives Richard Nagbe Koon is expected to fulfill a commitment to healthcare workers at the J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital with the presentation of a bus intended to assist employees in their daily travel to and from work.
Speaker Koon made the pledge during an official visit to Maryland County from December 16 to 21, 2025, when he promised to provide a bus for workers at the county’s major referral hospital.
Sources indicate that preparations are now underway for the formal handover of the vehicle, which is expected to take place between Wednesday and Friday of this week.
The initiative is expected to ease some of the difficulties hospital employees face getting to work, particularly those working extended or irregular shifts.
Hospital workers are anticipated to benefit from easier access to the facility, potentially helping them arrive for duty and return home with greater convenience.
The planned handover would also mark the fulfillment of a commitment made by Speaker Koon during his visit to the county.
Details regarding the vehicle’s operational arrangements and how it will be made available to hospital employees are expected to be outlined during the official presentation.
