MONROVIA, Liberia — The Sinoe County Local Government has donated LD$2.7 million (US$15,000) to the Sinoe University Student Union (SUSU) to support students from the county facing financial and educational challenges.
The cheque was presented to SUSU President Truman C. Taiye during a meeting at A’la Lagune, with the funds intended to support university students pursuing higher education across Liberia.
The donation was made under the leadership of Sinoe County Superintendent Alexander Nah Sleweon, who said the initiative reflects the Local Government’s commitment to education and youth development.
Superintendent Sleweon said investing in students is essential to building a skilled generation capable of contributing to the development of Sinoe County and Liberia.
He also called for stronger cooperation between the Local Government and student leadership to identify practical ways of addressing the challenges confronting young people from the county.
Receiving the contribution, SUSU President Truman C. Taiye thanked the Sinoe County Local Government for the support, describing it as an important intervention for students.
Taiye said the funds would be directed toward student welfare, scholarship assistance, and other educational needs, while assuring the Local Government that SUSU would ensure proper accountability in the use of the money.
The contribution strengthens the partnership between the Sinoe County Local Government and students and signals continued support for higher education and youth empowerment in the county.
