MONROVIA, Liberia – The Special Assistant to Liberia’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Atty. Siaffa Bahn Kemokai II, has called on young Liberians to become champions of integrity, accountability, and the rule of law, stressing that the nation’s democratic future depends on principled and responsible leadership.
Delivering the keynote address at the Induction and Inauguration Ceremony and 14th Anniversary Celebration of the Champion Intellectual, Social and Civic Movement (CISCIM) in Barnesville, Atty. Kemokai challenged members of the youth organization to embrace prudence as a defining leadership virtue and to serve as catalysts for positive national transformation.
Opening his address with the reflection, “A tree does not grow strong by standing alone; it grows strong because its roots hold hands underground,” he emphasized that sustainable national development is built on unity, shared responsibility, and strong institutions rather than individual achievement.
The Justice Ministry official praised CISCIM for maintaining fourteen years of uninterrupted service to youth development, describing the organization as a model of resilience, volunteerism, and community leadership. He noted that its longevity demonstrates what committed young people can accomplish through discipline, vision, and collective purpose.
Atty. Kemokai described prudence as an indispensable quality of effective leadership, observing that Liberia requires young leaders who possess the wisdom to make sound decisions, the courage to confront wrongdoing, and the discipline to build lasting solutions instead of merely criticizing existing challenges.
Addressing Liberia’s governance landscape, he identified corruption, weak accountability, and unequal access to justice as enduring obstacles to national progress. He stressed that youth organizations such as CISCIM have a vital role to play in fostering a generation committed to transparency, ethical leadership, and respect for the rule of law.
Drawing on his work at the Ministry of Justice, Atty. Kemokai highlighted ongoing national efforts to combat corruption, discourage mob justice, and strengthen public confidence in Liberia’s justice system. He also underscored the significance of the Ministry’s Responsible Citizens Justice Program, which promotes civic education and encourages young Liberians to view the protection of the rule of law as a shared national responsibility.
