Monrovia, Liberia – Montserrado District #9 Representative Sarah Foko has formally dedicated a newly constructed modern market for residents of the Lakpazee community, describing the project as part of her continued efforts to improve livelihoods and promote community development.
Speaking at the dedication ceremony, Rep. Foko said the facility is designed to provide traders and customers with a clean, safe, and well-organized environment. She noted that the market is expected to enhance commercial activities, improve sanitation conditions, and create a more structured trading space for residents of the rapidly growing community.
“The people of District #9 deserve decent and modern facilities,” Rep. Foko stated. “This market reflects our commitment to development and to ensuring that our citizens conduct business in a dignified and supportive environment.”
During her remarks, the lawmaker also voiced concern over what she described as delays in the disbursement of government development funds to her district. She indicated that the situation has slowed down several planned projects intended to benefit residents.
“I am going to sue the Government of Liberia for not giving my district project money,” she declared.
Despite the challenges, Rep. Foko assured constituents that she remains committed to advancing development initiatives and improving basic infrastructure and services across District #9.

Community leaders, market women, and youth representatives lauded the initiative, describing the new facility as a major improvement to local trading conditions. They said the market provides a more orderly, secure, and hygienic space for business activities and is expected to boost economic engagement within the area.
Many residents praised the Representative for fulfilling part of her development promises and urged her to continue advocating for additional projects, including road rehabilitation, sanitation improvements, and other essential community services.
Reaffirming her commitment at the close of the event, Rep. Foko pledged to continue prioritizing the welfare of her constituents, stressing that she remains dedicated to pursuing development initiatives despite financial and administrative constraints facing her office.
