HARPER, Maryland County — The President and CEO of William V. S. Tubman University, Dr. Olu Q. Menjay, has urged faculty and staff to make students the primary focus of their academic and administrative responsibilities.
Dr. Menjay made the statement Monday during the university’s 17th Opening Convocation for the 2026–2027 academic year, held at the TU Pavilion on the university’s main campus in Harper.
Addressing students, faculty, staff, and administrators, Menjay said the university’s progress should be measured not only by institutional achievements but also by the quality of services and opportunities provided to students.
He emphasized that faculty and staff have a responsibility to create a professional, supportive, and student-friendly academic environment.
“Without students, there would be no need for faculty or staff,” Menjay stressed, calling on employees to ensure that their daily duties contribute directly to students’ academic development and overall success.
The TU president also encouraged greater cooperation among departments and stronger accountability in delivering academic and administrative services.
He said the new academic year should be marked by renewed commitment to professionalism, effective service delivery, and ensuring that students receive the necessary support to achieve their educational goals.
