TUZONBURG CITY, SINOE COUNTY — Representative Samson Quejue Wiah of Sinoe County Electoral District #2 has dedicated and officially handed over a newly constructed US$70,000 modern market building to market women in Tuzonburg City.
The dedication ceremony, held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, brought together local authorities, community leaders, market representatives, and hundreds of market women who welcomed the project as a major boost to commerce and women’s economic empowerment in the area.
The modern facility is intended to provide traders with a safer, more organized and sanitary environment to conduct their businesses. The project replaces temporary and weather-exposed trading spaces that previously left vendors and their goods vulnerable to heavy rains and other difficult conditions.
Speaking during the dedication ceremony, Rep. Quejue Wiah emphasized the important contribution of market women to the local economy and said the investment was aimed at improving their working conditions and supporting their livelihoods.
“Our market women are the backbone of Tuzonburg’s economy,” Rep. Quejue said. “This project is not just about constructing a building; it is about investing in the dignity, safety and economic empowerment of our women.”
The lawmaker said providing decent market infrastructure is essential to creating an environment where small businesses can grow and families can improve their livelihoods.
Market women expressed appreciation for the project, saying the new facility will provide better protection for their goods, improve sanitation and create a more comfortable environment for both vendors and customers.
The ceremony was marked by traditional performances, speeches of appreciation and celebrations from beneficiaries and community residents.
The newly dedicated market will be managed by the Tuzonburg Market Women Association in collaboration with relevant municipal authorities. The management arrangement is expected to ensure fair distribution of stalls, proper sanitation, maintenance and sustainable use of the facility.
Residents of Tuzonburg described the US$70,000 modern market project as a significant development for the community and urged beneficiaries to take ownership of the facility by maintaining its cleanliness and protecting the infrastructure.
The project further underscores Rep. Quejue Wiah’s focus on community-based development and initiatives aimed at improving the daily lives and economic opportunities of residents of Sinoe County Electoral District #2.
