THE GAMBIA — Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr., head of the ECOWAS Parliament’s oversight mission to The Gambia, has joined the ECOMIG Force Commander on a visit to the Nigerian contingent as part of ongoing engagements to assess the activities and operations of the regional security mission.
The visit also highlighted the importance of international solidarity in addressing public health challenges, particularly breast cancer, as Senator Snowe and members of the delegation joined ECOMIG personnel in supporting a breast cancer awareness campaign.

During the engagement, Senator Snowe received breast cancer awareness T-shirts from female personnel of ECOMIG, the Force Commander, and the Nigerian Contingent Commander. He described the gesture as thoughtful and expressed appreciation for their commitment to promoting awareness of the disease.
The Bomi County lawmaker reaffirmed his solidarity with women affected by breast cancer, stressing the importance of sustained public awareness, early detection, regular screening, and improved access to quality healthcare.
He also encouraged collective efforts to support women confronting the disease, emphasizing that no woman should feel isolated in the fight against breast cancer.
The engagement reflects the broader importance of combining regional cooperation with humanitarian concerns, particularly initiatives that promote public health, women’s well-being, and community awareness.
