MONROVIA, Liberia — The Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) has announced its approved school fee structure for the new academic year, while directing schools and administrators to refrain from imposing Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) fees or other unauthorized charges.

MCSS Superintendent Dr. Augurie E. Stevens said the approved fee structure varies according to the level of education, with students from Kindergarten through Elementary school exempted from paying school fees.

Under the approved structure, Kindergarten students will pay no school fees, while Elementary school students are also exempt from school fees within the MCSS system.

For students at the secondary level, Dr. Stevens announced an annual school fee of L$3,000 for Junior High School (JHS) students.

Students enrolled at the Senior High School (SHS) level will pay an annual school fee of L$3,250.

The Superintendent stressed that these are the officially approved school fees and that schools within the MCSS system are not authorized to add PTA fees, development fees or other charges to the approved amounts.

She specifically warned school administrators against collecting PTA fees or any other unauthorized or attached charges from students and their parents.

Dr. Stevens said administrators or schools found violating the approved fee structure could face administrative action.

She urged principals, teachers and other school authorities to strictly follow the approved fees and called on parents and guardians to be vigilant about unauthorized collections.

The Superintendent also encouraged students and parents to raise concerns through the appropriate MCSS channels if they are asked to pay fees beyond those officially approved.

The MCSS operates schools from Kindergarten through Grade 12 across the Greater Monrovia area.

The clarification is intended to ensure that parents, guardians and students understand their financial obligations for the new academic year and to prevent unauthorized charges from being imposed within the public school system.
