TUBMANBURG, BOMI COUNTY — Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Dekay Snowe Jr. has successfully concluded a four-day countywide vacation job initiative that offered temporary employment and financial assistance to 506 students across the county.
As part of the program, each participant received LRD 5,000 upon completing the assignment, with the initiative aimed at helping parents prepare for the upcoming school year while encouraging students to embrace responsibility and community service.
Speaking at the close of the program, Senator Snowe commended the students for their dedication and commitment throughout the exercise.
“We applaud all participating students for their enthusiasm, hard work, and commitment,” he said. “Beyond easing the financial burden on parents, this initiative was intended to promote discipline, responsibility, and a spirit of service among our young people.”
The program was coordinated by a team headed by Mr. Harry A. Ragland and Mr. Meloshe D. Roberts, whose leadership the Senator praised for ensuring the smooth implementation of activities throughout Bomi County.
Accountability and School Enrollment
Senator Snowe confirmed that all 506 beneficiaries received their full stipends, stressing that the funds are meant to support students’ education. He disclosed that a monitoring team has been assigned to verify that each recipient enrolls in school for the new academic term.
He warned that participants who fail to use the assistance for its intended educational purpose will face accountability measures.
“A dedicated team will verify the enrollment of every beneficiary,” Snowe stated. “Anyone who receives the support but does not return to school will be identified and held accountable.”
Despite the strict monitoring process, the Senator expressed confidence that the initiative would have a lasting positive impact on youth development in Bomi County, congratulating the students and encouraging them to remain committed to their education.
