MONTSERRADO COUNTY, LIBERIA — Montserrado County District #6 Representative Aspirant J. Melton Yoko says citizens must remain vocal and persistent in demanding accountability from their elected leaders.
Yoko believes some public officials become less motivated to deliver when they are convinced that their positions are secure and that there is little possibility of being replaced.
He argued that the absence of strong political competition can sometimes create complacency, even when leaders are aware of the challenges confronting the people they represent.
According to Yoko, citizens deserve leaders who will consistently work to improve their communities rather than wait until elections approach before responding to public concerns.
He said he will continue to challenge leaders and demand action on issues affecting residents, regardless of criticism or how his advocacy may be perceived.
Yoko emphasized that District #6 residents deserve effective representation, responsive leadership, and development that reflects their needs.
He said his continued engagement with residents is part of a broader effort to promote accountability and prepare the district for what he described as a better future.
“District #6 deserves better, and we will continue to push for the people’s interest. Trust the process — 2029,” Yoko stated.
