MONTSERRADO COUNTY, LIBERIA — Montserrado County District #6 Representative Aspirant J. Melton Yoko says his vision to use sports as a tool for community unity and youth engagement remains a key part of his political agenda ahead of the 2029 elections.
Yoko made the statement following a football-for-unity program held Sunday in the R2 Community along the Robertsfield Highway, where residents and young people participated in a community sporting activity.
He said the initiative is intended to bring residents together, promote peace and unity, and create opportunities for young people across District #6.
“Our intention to use sports to unite our people in District #6 cannot be underestimated,” Yoko said. “As we prepare to take over the district in 2029, we will continue to engage our people and listen to their concerns.”
According to Yoko, District #6 deserves improved representation and stronger community-focused leadership, adding that he is prepared to provide the kind of leadership he believes residents deserve.
He described sports as more than entertainment, saying football can serve as a platform for promoting unity, building relationships among communities, and empowering young people.
Yoko also expressed appreciation to his political leader, Mustapha Raji, for supporting the initiative, while thanking members of the R2 Community organizing committee for their role in making the football-for-unity program possible.
The aspirant said similar engagements will continue as he seeks to strengthen his connection with residents across Montserrado County District #6 ahead of the 2029 elections.
