Monrovia, Liberia – The Government of the People’s Republic of China has donated a consignment of medical supplies to the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Medical Center, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening Liberia’s healthcare system and deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

‎The donation ceremony, held on July 7, brought together Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Yin Chengwu, Chief Executive Officer of JFK Medical Center Dr. Linda Birch, Assistant Minister of Health and Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. G. Gorbee Logan, members of the 18th Chinese Medical Team, and other government and health sector officials.

‎Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Yin said the donation is intended to help address the shortage of essential medical supplies at Liberia’s largest referral hospital and improve its capacity to provide quality healthcare services.

‎According to the Chinese envoy, the assistance represents more than humanitarian support, describing it as another milestone in the longstanding medical cooperation between China and Liberia.

‎He noted that the donation reflects the growing strategic partnership between the two nations and reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Liberia’s healthcare development through continued collaboration, technical assistance, and medical cooperation.

‎Ambassador Yin emphasized that China remains a reliable partner in Liberia’s development journey and will continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the country’s health sector and the well-being of the Liberian people.

‎Receiving the donation, JFK Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Dr. Linda Birch expressed appreciation to the Chinese Government for its continued support to Liberia’s healthcare system.

‎She described the donation as timely and significant, noting that the additional medical supplies will help improve patient care and strengthen the hospital’s ability to respond to the growing healthcare needs of the population.

‎Also speaking at the ceremony, Dr. G. Gorbee Logan, Assistant Minister of Health and Deputy Chief Medical Officer, thanked the Government of China for what he described as its longstanding and unwavering partnership with Liberia’s health sector.

‎Dr. Logan praised China’s continued investment in Liberia’s healthcare delivery system through medical assistance, equipment donations, and the deployment of Chinese medical teams.

‎Both Liberian health officials expressed optimism that the partnership between Liberia and China will continue to expand, particularly in areas of medical training, infrastructure development, and healthcare service delivery.

‎China has remained one of Liberia’s key development partners, providing sustained support to the country’s health sector through the deployment of medical professionals, infrastructure assistance, capacity building, and the donation of medical equipment and supplies aimed at improving healthcare services nationwide.
