Liberian Professional in U.S Sowah Secures Clinical Counseling License After Legal Battle in Minnesota

MINNESOTA, UNITED STATES — Liberian professional A. Patrick Sowah has officially earned the designation of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) following a successful legal challenge against the State of Minnesota.

Sowah, who previously held a provisional counseling license, confirmed that his full professional license was officially issued on November 1, 2026, marking a significant milestone in his professional career.

In recounting his experience, Sowah disclosed that the process involved legal proceedings during which he was advised to seek an attorney to represent him. However, he said he declined the recommendation, choosing instead to rely on his faith in God.

He further explained that he waived his right to attend two scheduled hearings, maintaining his belief that God would represent him throughout the proceedings.

Following the successful outcome, Sowah expressed gratitude to Jesus Christ, describing the achievement as a moment of thanksgiving after a difficult journey.

The newly licensed professional holds a Master of Science (M.S.) degree and is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Educational Psychology at Capella University.

His transition from provisional licensure to full professional clinical counseling status represents an important advancement in his professional journey and adds to his academic pursuits in the United States.

Sowah’s achievement is also a moment of pride for members of the Liberian community, particularly those who view his experience as an example of perseverance, determination, and faith in the face of institutional and legal challenges.

A. Patrick Sowah, M.S., LPCC, expressed appreciation to everyone who followed the matter and extended support and attention throughout the process.
