MONROVIA, Liberia — Information Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah says no government can resolve all of a country’s national problems within a six-year term, citing the challenges and time involved in addressing complex development issues.
Minister Piah made the remarks while speaking to journalists at the Charles Gbenyon Press Room, where he discussed the realities of governance and the difficulties governments face in tackling multiple national priorities within a limited period.
His comments come as the performance of the government remains a subject of public discussion, particularly concerning service delivery, economic conditions, infrastructure development, and efforts to improve the lives of ordinary Liberians.
The minister’s statement is likely to renew discussions about the expectations citizens place on elected leaders and the extent to which governments should be held accountable for their commitments and performance.
While addressing longstanding national problems can require sustained planning and resources, public scrutiny remains important in determining whether authorities are making measurable progress toward meeting the country’s development needs.
