Monrovia, Liberia — Margibi County District #1 Representative hopeful Gus Harris has praised Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung Sr., describing his leadership approach as one characterized by composure, courage, humility, discipline and commitment to public service.
In a statement titled “The Tenacity We Envisage,” Harris said effective leadership is demonstrated not merely through occupying public office, but through the ability to unite people, bridge differences and create opportunities for others.
Harris said Vice President Koung’s response to criticism and public controversy demonstrates what he considers an important quality of leadership: remaining focused on responsibilities rather than responding to every voice in the public space.
“Leadership is not simply about holding an office; it is about carrying responsibility, bringing people together, building bridges across differences, and creating opportunities for others,” Harris wrote.
He further argued that diplomacy should not be mistaken for weakness and that silence does not necessarily represent surrender. According to Harris, leaders can demonstrate strength by remaining composed, staying focused on their objectives and allowing their actions and results to speak for themselves.
Harris said the values he associates with Koung’s leadership include dignity in adversity, courage in responsibility, humility in success and perseverance in pursuing progress.
The Margibi District #1 aspirant described his commentary as an independent perspective on leadership, emphasizing the importance of patience, unity, responsibility and service in public leadership.
