LRA Strengthens Taxpayer Education and Compliance in Pleebo

PLEEBO, Maryland County — The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has intensified stakeholder engagement and taxpayer education activities in Pleebo, Maryland County, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen voluntary tax compliance and improve public understanding of Liberia’s tax system.

The engagement brought together taxpayers, business operators, community stakeholders, and other members of the public to receive practical information on their rights and responsibilities as taxpayers.

During the outreach, LRA officials provided guidance on key areas of tax administration, including taxpayer registration, tax return filing procedures, payment of tax obligations, and compliance requirements. Particular attention was also given to Real Property Tax, with participants receiving information on their obligations and the importance of meeting statutory deadlines.

The LRA also used the engagement to promote awareness of its digital services, encouraging taxpayers to make greater use of online platforms designed to simplify tax-related processes and reduce the need for in-person visits to LRA offices.

Officials emphasized that taxpayer education remains essential to building a culture of voluntary compliance. By providing clear and practical information, the Authority seeks to help taxpayers better understand their obligations while improving access to services and strengthening trust between the revenue institution and the public.

The Pleebo engagement forms part of broader taxpayer awareness efforts being carried out by the LRA in Maryland and other southeastern counties. The campaign is aimed at reaching taxpayers at the community level and creating greater awareness of the importance of tax compliance to national development.

Through continued stakeholder engagement, the LRA is seeking to ensure that taxpayers have the knowledge and tools needed to register properly, file their returns accurately, meet their tax obligations, and access available digital services.

The Authority is also encouraging taxpayers with questions or concerns about their tax obligations to seek guidance from LRA officials and use the available taxpayer support channels to obtain accurate information.

The outreach underscores the LRA’s commitment to making tax administration more accessible, transparent, and taxpayer-friendly while strengthening domestic revenue mobilization for Liberia’s development.
