Harper, Maryland County – Maryland County Superintendent Nathaniel Toe Jr. has donated a huge consignment of sporting equipment to the Maryland County Sports and Athletic Commission (MSAC) to strengthen the county’s preparations for the 2026/2027 National County Sports Meet.
The donation, made during an official turnover ceremony on July 4, 2026, includes footballs, jerseys, training bibs, cones, football boots, gloves, and other essential sporting materials intended to support early training and talent identification ahead of Liberia’s biggest annual inter-county sporting competition.
Speaking at the ceremony, Superintendent Toe said the donation fulfills a commitment he made shortly after his confirmation by the Liberian Senate as Superintendent of Maryland County.
He explained that after assuming office, he consulted with Marylanders residing in Monrovia and other stakeholders, resulting in a collective decision to procure adequate sporting materials to improve the county’s participation in the upcoming National County Sports Meet.
According to Superintendent Toe, early preparation is essential to building a competitive team capable of representing Maryland County with distinction. He said providing the equipment at this stage will enable coaches and the Sports Commission to begin identifying and developing talented athletes from communities across the county.
He encouraged young people to take advantage of the opportunity by participating in district leagues, preparing for the selection process, and maintaining discipline throughout the training period.
The Superintendent also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development through sports, describing athletics as an important platform for promoting unity, discipline, healthy living, and creating opportunities for young people.
